Gary W. Bartley, 70, always had a joke or story to tell. Former Blair resident Gary W. Bartley, 70, of Galena, Mo., died April 28, 2011. A memorial service is planned at a later date. Mr. Bartley loved to work with his hands and to fish. He enjoyed teaching his grandsons to work with wood and taking them fishing. He always had a story or a joke to tell. Gary attended school in Central Point, Oregon. He served 4 years in the Navy (1958 to 1962) as a fireman and ship fitter. His last ship was the USS Pyro. After leaving the Navy, he worked for years in refrigeration, air conditioning, and building maintenance. He built his retirement house on the lake in Branson, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Staria Lund of Crescent City, Calif.; Joe Bartley of Austin, Texas; Denise and Jim Dein of Blair; four grandsons, Bryce Lund, Josh Siciunas, Jack Dein and Jordan Bartley; one granddaughter, Tinessa Lund; many other relatives. Brothers and sisters, Gladys Dusseau, Norfolk, NE; Dale Bartley, Central Point, OR; Kenneth Bartley, Everett, WA; Irene South, Prospect, OR; Gay Courtier, Malvern, Iowa; and Harry Bartley (Corky), Newberg, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Della Bartley; and daughters, Dawna Bartley and Linda Siciunas; and brother, Richard Bartley.
