Bertha A. Shumake

Bertha A. Shumake, 82, of Blair died April 8. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Campbell Funeral Home with Pastor Owen Wilmot officiating. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Shumake was born November 3, 1904, in Bow, Kentucky; her father’s name was Christopher Columbus Ashenhurst. She attended school in Becksville, Kentucky.

In 1927, she married Charles Shumake, Sr., in Danville, Illinois.

They moved to Nebraska in 1929.

Survivors include her husband Charles of Blair; a son, Charles E. Shumake of Bliar; two grandsons; three great-grandsons; sisters, Mrs. Sally Nation of Mowaha, Illinois and Mrs. Montie Flowers of Bow, Kentucky, and brothers John Ashenhurst and Cam Ashenhurst, both of Assumption, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
