Jacob Million Of Arlington Passed Away Sat. After Illness

Jacob Lemuel Million was born near Memphis, Tenn., Sept. 23, 1863 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Hall on July 21, following an illness of four months.

On January 17, 1886, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Murphy. To this union was born eight children.

The couple moved to Arlington in 1889 and lived on the Ormsby farm where he was employed by the Marshall’s Nursery. In 1920 they moved to California where Mrs. Million died in 1930 at Los Angeles. Two sons, Jesse and Raymond passed away in Calif., in 1926 and one daughter, Gertrude, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Million returned to Arlington three years ago to make his home with his daughter.

Survivors are three sons, Earl and James of Los Angeles, Calif., and Therman living in Wyoming: two daughters, Mrs. B. F. Hadley of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Hall of Arlington.

Services were held at 1:39 p.m. July 23 at the Reckmeyer Funeral Chapel at Arlington. Interment was at the Arlington Cemetery.

JACOB MILLION RITES MONDAY

Funeral services for Jacob L. Million, who died here on July 21st after being bedfast for the past four months, were held on Monday at the Reckmeyer Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. A. W. Clarke officiating.

Therlo Reckmeyer sang “In the Garden” and “Rock of Ages” with Mrs. Alice Newcom as his accompanist. Pallbearers were Tom Dowell, Lawrence Hall, Henry Hall, Arthur Springgate, Albert Meier and Richard Schlapfer.

Mr. Million was well known here by older residents, having been an employee of the Marshalls Nurseries for many years prior to moving to California some years ago. He had made his home here with his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Hall, for the past three years.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 23, 1863 he was married to Mary Murphy in 1885, and came to Arlington in 1889 where he lived until he left for California in 1920.

Deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hall and Mrs. B. F. Hadley of Los Angeles, California, who has been here several weeks; and three sons, Earl and James of Los Angeles and Thurman of Wyoming. His wife preceded him in death in 1930, also two sons passed away in California in 1926. Six grandsons also survive, three of whom are in military service.

Reckmeyer & Son had charge of the funeral arrangements, and burial was made in the Arlington cemetery.
