Brother of popular Blair teacher killed
Ross J. Minarik, 19, of Fremont, was killed Tuesday, July 22, 2003, when a semitrailer he was driving rolled over on U.S. Highway 6 near Clay Center.
Minarik, who would have been a junior at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont this fall, is the brother of Ryan Minarik, a teacher and football coach at Blair High School.
Ross Minarik was a graduate of Fremont-Bergan High School.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont on July 26 and interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
In addition to his brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Denise Minarik of Omaha, he is survived by his parents, Robert and Elaine Minarik of Fremont; brother and sister-in-law, Heath and Jenni Minarik of Fremont; grandparents, Leslie and Rose Minarik, also of Fremont, and Adelia Birchem of West Point.
