Dean Arthur Schneider, 60, of rural Omaha, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
Services were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2000, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
Visitation was scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2000.
Dean Arthur Schneider was born April 11, 1940, to Arthur and Celia (Iversen) Schneider, in Omaha. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington and confirmed at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha.
He attended the Wranch School and high school in Fort Calhoun, graduating in 1957.
In 1960, following the death of his father, he took over operation of the family farm south of Blair. He was a grain and livestock producer.
On April 27, 1968, he married Nina Niederle in Omaha.
He was a member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, the Fremont Eagles, Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association, school board member at the Wranch School, 4-H leader, board member of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Washington County, and was a seed corn salesman for Asgrow Seed Company. He also served six years in the Nebraska National Guard.
His hobbies included going to farm auctions, cattle sales and having coffee and playing cards with neighbors and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nina, and son, Troy, at home; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and George Erdman of Millard; and his mother, Celia Schneider of Blair.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Jeanine.
Memorials are suggested to the Fort Calhoun Rescue Squad or the First Lutheran Church in Blair.
