ALVIN SPRINGGATE, 24, DIES IN LONG BEACH
Alvin LeRoy Springgate, 24, former Arlington youth, died unexpectedly last Tuesday at his home in Long Beach, Calif. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Springgate of Fremont, the World War II veteran died after a brief illness.
He was born at Arlington Jan. 23, 1924, and during the war was a member of the Navy and served in the South Pacific for three and a half years.
Surviving besides his parents are his widow, the former Betty Loy Smith of Long Beach; his 14-month-old son, Alvin LeRoy, Jr.; three brothers, Sgt. Jesse Springgate of Fort Sheridan, Ill., and Don and Henry of Fremont; and six sisters, Betty, Virginia and Lydia of Fremont, Mrs. Merl Gentry of Blair, and Mrs. Kenneth Story and Mrs. Carl Tracey of Omaha. Mrs. Cindia Springgate of Arlington is his grandmother.
