Martin P. Nelson Buried Wednesday
Martin P. Nelson, long-time resident of Washington County, was taken to Memorial Community Hospital on January 3rd, and to the McBride Nursing Home on Jan. 14th. On February 13th he passed away of a heart attack.
Mr. Nelson was born in Hammel, Denmark on June 3, 1872, and came to Wisconsin in 1887. In 1894 he returned to Denmark for a visit and there met Laura Laursen, who also was on a visit to her native country. She returned to North Dakota and Mr. Larsen* to Wisconsin. On February 24, 1896, they were married in Racine, Wis., and came to Kennard, Nebraska to farm.
To this union four children were born. Lauritz passed away in 1899 and a daughter died in 1925. Mrs. Nelson died on April 6th, 1958 after 62 years of wedded life.
Survivors are a daughter, Emma Nelson, of Omaha, and a son, Edwin, of Cicero, Ill. Also two grandchildren, Edwin, Jr., and Mrs. Allen Schorr; and three great-grandchildren of Des Plaines, Ill. A half-brother, Ernest Tungelunde, lives in Rolding, Denmark.
Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church in Blair on February 15th at 2 p.m. The Rev. George Pallesen officiated.
Pallbearers were Ross Love, Fred Dornacker, Rudy Frahm, Harold Taylor, Richard Sorensen and Lester Wulf.
