Guy Murphy, 69, Buried Thursday
Native Blairite Who Died In California Buried At Fort Calhoun
Guy Murphy, 69, native of Blair and onetime resident of both Blair and Fort Calhoun, was buried last Thursday in Fort Calhoun cemetery following services at the Presbyterian church there. Mr. Murphy died March 21 at Long Beach, California.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Murphy, early-day residents of this county, Mr. Murphy was born September 20, 1871, on a farm near Blair. The family soon afterwards moved to Fort Calhoun, residing many years on the present L. J. Dey farm.
Mr. Murphy, upon reaching manhood, became a railroad man, but had retired from that work following injuries sustained in a train wreck, since which time he had resided in California.
Surviving him are three brothers, Hugh of Winnemucca, Nevada, Phillip of Long Beach, California, and Jesse of Rapid City, California; and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Spence of Stanton, Nebraska, and Mrs. Rebecca Sheely of Long Beach.
