Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Christensen, age 73, were held January 2 at the First Methodist Church in Oakland. Mrs. Christensen died December 30 at Oakland Memorial Hospital.

Louise J. Christensen was born southeast of Oakland December 2, 1889, to Walter and Anna Hansen. She received her elementary schooling in the rural schools of that area and attended high school in Oakland. She was trained for Salvation Army work in Omaha and spent some time in Chicago, Ill., and Seattle, Wash., in this work.

She was united in marriage to Fred A. Christensen of Lyons February 5, 1913. In 1958 they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. To this union were born seven children. Two of her children, Glen and Lois Jean, and her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Christensen was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and was active in W.S.C.S. work, receiving an honorary life membership pin in the society several years ago. She was a charter member of the Belle Creek Extension Club and a member of the Woman’s Club of Lyons and the Oakland Garden Club.

Survivors include her children, Forrest of Des Moines, Mrs. E. J. Appleby Jr. (Elaine), Mrs. Carroll Cordes (Rachel) of Scribner, Myron Christensen of Oakland and Donald Christensen of Lyons and twelve grandchildren.

Rev. Ross Louthan officiated at the services. Music was furnished by Mrs. Charles LeMaster of Sioux City, Ia. Pallbearers were Allen Paulson, William Paulson, Edmund Going, Warren Robertson (other names are not readable).
