Services for Harry William Arndt, 79 who died May 25, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia were Tuesday, May 28 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Harry William Arndt was born in Blair April 2, 1917 to Wilfred B. and Marie Weber Arndt. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and worked in advertising there.

He married Hildegard Strott. He and his family moved back to Blair in 1963. He then managed the hardware business in Blair that had been owned by his father and grandfather before him. He retired in 1982.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He was an active Republican and was a member of the Washington County Genealogical Society. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In 1992, he moved to Newman, Georgia so he could be near his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Hildegard of Newman; children, Steven of Newman and Linda of Omaha; a daughter-in-law, Donna of Newman and grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Amanda of Newman.

Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
