DEATH TAKES MRS. CLEMENTS

MOTHER OF COUNTIANS DIES IN WYOMING; FORMER HERMAN RESIDENT

Mrs. Nellie Clements, 75, one-time Herman resident, died last Thursday at Gillette, Wyo., where she had made her home since 1915.

Mrs. Clements, as Nellie Yowell, was born Apr. 4, 1872 in Iowa and moved to the Herman community as a girl. She united with the Baptist church in Herman early in her life. Mrs. Clements lived at Herman and Tekamah many years before moving to Wyoming 32 years ago.

Surviving her are five sons, Hurley Clements of Herman; Deputy Sheriff Claude Clements of Blair; Clyde, Otis and Ned Clements of Gillette; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Hackett of Gillette, Wyo.; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A son, Earl Clements, died in childhood.

MRS. NELLIE CLEMENTS DIES IN WYOMING

Mrs. Nellie Clements, mother of Deputy Sheriff Claude Clements, died at her home in Gillette, Wyoming, Thursday, July 3. She was 75 years old.

Mrs. Clements was born at Monroe, Iowa, in 1872. The family moved to Herman, Nebraska, when she was five years old. She lived at Herman until 1915 when she moved to Gillette, Wyoming.

Mrs. Clements and son, Eugene, and Hurley Clements, of Herman, Nebraska, went to Gillette Wednesday evening for the funeral which was held Sunday, July 6, at the Baptist church.

Surviving are five sons: Claude who lives at Blair, Hurley who lives at Herman, Nebraska, Clyde R., Neal, and Otis, all of whom live in Gillette, and a daughter, Mrs. Ed Hackett, who lives near Gillette, Wyoming.

Funeral Services Held Sunday For Nellie Clements

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Nellie A. Clements, 75, Sunday, July 6 at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. J. H. Smith officiated in the last rites at the Baptist church.

During the service Mrs. Michael Elmore sang two solos, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” and “Goodnight Here and Good Morning Up There.”

Pallbearers were her grandsons and her granddaughter’s husband. They were Donald, Earl, Robert, Gerald and Eugene Clements and Cal Sams.

Surviving her are five sons, Claude of Blair, Nebr., Clyde of Buffalo, who are twins, Harley of Herman, Nebr., Neil of Rockypoint, Otice of Biddle, Mont., and one daughter, Mrs. E. D. Hackett of Gillette. All were able to be present at the funeral. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Nellie A. Yowell was born at Monroe, Iowa, April 4, 1872, and passed away at Gillette, Wyo., July 3rd, 1947, where she had made her home for the past thirty years.

She married Lewis Grant Clements, January 1, 1890, and to this union was born seven children, Earl, the eldest son, preceded her in death in 1904. Her husband passed away in December, 1936.

Early in girlhood she joined the Baptist church ad was a faithful worker and regular attendant, until her health no longer permitted.

Unsurpassed as a mother and companion, loved and respected by all, her loss will be deeply felt by those who knew her.
