Carl Beekman, Former Blairite
Word has reached Blair of the death of Carl H. Beekman, 69, a native of Blair, who has lived in California for many years.
Carl was the son of Charles and Ida Beekman who will be remembered by older residents as early-day merchants of Blair. Both of Carl’s parents were natives of Blair. The family lived in the house now the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Petersen, a block north of the First Methodist Church.
Carl was a graduate of the Blair High School class of 1928, and later was a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Death, which took place at a hospital in Santa Anna, California, was attributed to a massive heart attack which had occurred Saturday, May 24th.
Carl is survived by his wife, Claire, a daughter Laurie, son Richard, and a daughter Gretchen Boe. There are also two grandsons and two granddaughters.
Remembered by older Blairites are Carl's sister: Alice Magill, of Tulare, California and Emma Gavras of Los Angeles. Both are survivors.
Funeral services were held May 28th at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church at Tustin, California.
