Funeral services for Robert L. “Bob” Beig, 75, of Hartington, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington.
Interment will be in the Hartington City Cemetery. Mr. Beig died Friday, Feb. 21, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D.
Robert L. Beig was born Aug. 8, 1927 in Hartington to Emil and Lena (Peterson) Beig. He grew up in Hartington and graduated from Hartington Public High School.
On May 3, 1955, he married Vesta June (Bacon) Hourigan.
He worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads as an engineer/inspector from 1959 until 1980, when he retired.
His family was the most important thing to him. He was a very dedicated father. He loved family gatherings, going for a ride with his mom, having coffee daily with his friends, and country/western music.
He is survived by his wife, Vesta Beig of Hartington; five daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie (Hourigan) Lammers of Hartington, Peg (Hourigan) and Paul Wedel of Blair, Charlotte (Hourigan) and Fred Martinez of Henderson, Colo., Jance (Hourigan) and Leonard Snook of Hartington, and DeAnn Beig of Omaha; family friend, Sue Koch of Omaha; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kim Beig of Jackpot, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother- in-law, Darlene and Dave Miles of Columbus; and two aunts, Audrey Beig and Katie Holcomb of Coleridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Dan Hourigan.
