AN AGED MAN IS CALLED TO THE GREAT BEYOND
Nels Peter Beck passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Beck, in this city, Saturday, December 15, aged 91 years.
The subject of this sketch was born in Denmark June 1, 1842, and came to this country many years ago where he has taken an active part in building up the community in which he lived.
He reared a number of children who inherited the legacy of a strong character, sobriety and honesty. Those surviving him are Mrs. Anna Beck, Mrs. Kate Nelsen, Mrs. Julia Andrews and Evor Beck, all living in Washington county, and Hans Beck, residing in South Dakota. His wife and son, Chris, preceded him to the Great Beyond a few years ago, and other children died earlier in life.
The funeral was held at the Danish Lutheran church on Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. H. Nielsen and burial was made in the Blair cemetery. All of the children with the exception of Evor Beck, who was sick, were in attendance at the funeral.

Peter Beck died at about 2 o’clock last Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Beck, who lives out near Dana college, where he had made his home for the past year. He had been failing for several months, but was in bed only about twelve days. The funeral was held at the house and at the Danish Lutheran church Monday afternoon, Rev. H. Nelson officiating.
Mr. Beck was born in Schleswig June 1st, 1843, so was past 80 years of age. He came to this country in 1865 and shortly thereafter was married to Miss Anna Lund, whose death occurred three years ago in February. He had been a resident of Blair for thirty-six years.
He is survived by five children: N. Ever Beck, of Lakeview, S.D., Mrs. Kat Nelson and Mrs. Anna Beck, of Blair, Mrs. Theo Anderson of Blair township, and Hans P. Beck, who lives south of town. Two children preceded him in death, Mrs. Louis Hansen, at the age of 29 and Chris Beck, who died at his home in Cavour, S.D., April 8th, 1921. There are 34 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
