Services Held Saturday For Former Arlington Mayor Klug

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington for former Arlington Mayor Fred E. Klug, 72.

Klug died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital of Dodge County, Fremont. The Rev. Robert Backhus officiated. Burial was in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

He was born May 10, 1907, at Norfolk. He lived in Sidney and Hoskins and Boise, Idaho, before moving to Arlington 33 years ago. He was a retired operator of a grocery and locker plant at Arlington. In 1957 he entered the insurance field and later he started selling real estate. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lutheran Laymen’s League, and Arlington Community Club, He served as mayor of Arlington for about 10 years.

He married Arlene Juedes January 26, 1938, at Gurley.

Survivors include his wife, seven daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Leila) Warlick, Green River, Wyo., Mrs. Robert (Berry) Bringelman, Waterloo, Mrs. Jean Wildrick, Greenriver, Wyo., Mrs. James (LaDonna) Brainard, Fremont, Mrs. Lynn (Diana) Sievers, Fremont, Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Anderson, Kennard, and Miss Cheryl Klug, Omaha, 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Eltie Shellpepper, Norfolk, Mrs. Gertrude Wittenburg, Cave Junction, Ore.

Reckmeyer Funeral Home, Arlington, handled arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Berdell Haack, Gene Gnuse, Paul Hartung, Melvin Hille, Dale Klug and Victor Klug.
