MRS. PHILLIP STEYER
Grandma Phillip Steyer, who was killed in the tornado while visiting her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Stanley, in DeSoto, March 23, 1913, and buried beside her husband in Forest Lawn cemetery, Omaha, would have been 66 on October 6, 1913. She came from Germany with her late husband in 1873 and lived for a number of years later at Coffman before moving to Omaha, where the husband died a couple of years ago. She leaves three sons, all married -- Phillip in Omaha; and John and William on adjoining farms near Ft. Calhoun, and three daughters in Kansas, North Dakota and Minnesota, and a large number of grandchildren.
We have known her for a number of years as a bright, active, useful woman, a faithful Christian who certainly could not have any enemies, and her memory certainly will be very dear to those who survive her.
