FORMER BLAIR MAN BURIED AT MAGNOLIA, IOWA
Arthur O. Stokes, a former Blair man who moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa several years ago, died suddenly at Logan, Iowa Sunday morning, October 20th. He was 81 years old.
Mr. Stokes farmed near Blair for twenty years during which time he became well known for his interest in Hereford cattle and seed corn. A number of years ago he retired from his farming activities and moved to Blair, where he purchased an acreage at the north edge of Blair. Later the area Was divided into lots and is now on the city plats as “Stokes’ Additon.”
Mr. Stokes was a native Iowan, having been born at Logan, Iowa March 16, 1887. His wife, who died in February, 1963, was also a native of the Logan area.
He is survived by a brother, Henry Stokes, and by four sisters: Mrs. Lester Arbaugh, of Magnolia; Mrs. James Pelton of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Kenneth C. Mahoney of Omaha; and Mrs. Lloyd Campbell of Loveland, Iowa.
