Blair Man Dies in France
Harold Nelson Previously Listed As Missing In Action
Harold Nelson, 26, was killed in action in France on Feb. 22 according to a war department telegram received Sunday by his mother, Mrs. Morris Simonsen of Blair.
Earlier official notification had stated that Nelson was missing in action.
Born at Grinnell, Ia., Nelson spent most of his life in the Oakland, Nebr., vicinity. He enlisted in the army at Los Angeles, Calif., in 1940.
Survivors include three brothers: Leslie in the army, Charles in the navy, and Chester, a shipyard worker in Los Angeles.

SON OF BLAIRITE KILLED IN EUROPE
Mrs. Morris Simonson, of West South Street, received word from the Ward Department Sunday afternoon, that her son Lt. Harold Nelson had been killed in action in Europe. Lt. Nelson was 27 years of age.
Born and raised in the vicinity of Oakland, Nebraska, Lt. Nelson was one of three sons in the service. A brother, Sgt. Leslie Nelson, is also in France, and a brother, Charles, is in the United States Navy.
Mrs. Simonson had received word last Wednesday that her son was missing in action and confirmation of his death was not received until Sunday.
The many friends and acquaintances of Mrs. Simonson are extending their sympathies and words of comfort to this mother whose son has made the supreme sacrifice for his country.
