Carl L. Spidle, 79
Carl L. Spidle, 79, of Blair, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Military graveside services will be in Blair’s Holy Cross Cemetery.
Carl L. Spidle was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Columbus to Benjamin and Mary (Jareski) Spidle. He graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and served at the Battle of the Bulge.
On Sept. 20, 1943, he married Lois Hasselbach.
Mr. Spidle was a brick-mason, in business with his father and brothers. He worked at Reed Wurdeman & Associates as a pilot and telephone design draftsman. Mr. and Mrs. Spidle moved to Blair in 1968, and worked for HunTel and Great Plains telephone companies. After his wife’s death, Mr. Spidle married Kay Neef in 1978. He enjoyed his long retirement, filling his hours with gardening, golf, hunting and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Rick Carr of Sheboygan, Wis.; two granddaughters and their families; a grandson; two great-grandsons; sister, Irene Gottschall of Columbus; stepsons and spouses: David and Carolyn Neef and Chris and Lisa Neef, all of Blair, Michael Neef of Omaha, Jay and Judy Neef of Clermont, Fla.; nine step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
