Reported Missing In Action

Supt. and Mrs. A. D. Burress, of Crowell Memorial Home, have received the sad news that their son-in-law, Kenneth Van Druff, Chief Petty Officer, of the U.S. Navy, has been reported missing in action. He was on duty on the Liscome Bay Escort Carrier in the Gilbert Islands when it went down. His wife, who now lives in Omaha, is the former Lucille Burress, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. A. D. Buress, and they have one son, Kenneth, Jr., who is attending he St. John’s Military School at Salina, Kansas. Kenneth Van Druff enlisted in the Navy in March, 1942, and before his marriage, he was also in the Navy for four years.

CPO Kenneth B. Van Druff has been reported killed in action according to word received by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Van Druff, 2590 Ellison Avenue. He had been reported missing in the south Pacific.<> CPO Van Druff served on the fire department three years prior to his enlistment in March 1942.

He is survived by his father, A. P. Van Druss, Fremont; his wife; a son, Kenneth, and sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Fusser, Fremont.

Omahan on Liscombe Bay Said Missing

Kenneth Burdett Van Druff, crew member of the escort carrier Liscome Bay, sunk in the Gilbert islands campaign, is missing in action, according to word received by his wife, Helen, at 2590 Ellison avenue.

He had been promoted recently to c hief storekeeper, and was a member of the Omaha fire department before going into the navy. He spent his youth in Fremont, where a father and sister still live.
