Patricia Robinson, 75
Patricia Ann Riley Robinson was born on May 23, 1940 in Sayre, Pennsylvania, to David and Emma Luella (Beaty) Riley. She grew up in Athens, Pennsylvania, where she attended grade school and graduated from Athens High School in 1958. As a young girl, Pat played the violin, enjoyed taking pictures and scrapbooking and she liked to spend time with her friends. On one occasion, Pat and a friend were camping in the backyard using a blanket for a tent when the wind came up and blew the blanket away just as her mother was looking out the window, exposing their secret smoking habit. Just one of the many times Pat was caught. She was a tough kid, surviving Larry’s Judo practice and three close calls almost losing her fingers—once with a lawn mower, once with a meat grinder and finally with a power saw. Pat enlisted in the United States Army in March of 1959 and served for 2 ½ years. During her tour she was stationed in France for ten months. While she was in the service she met and married Gene Boroff. Pat and Gene were married in 1961 at Fremont, Nebraska, and they were blessed with two children: Bob and Vickie. Pat has lived in Fremont, Ames, Cedar Bluffs and Herman, Nebraska. Pat ran her own restaurant in Herman for many years until her health failed. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking and card games. Pat had a special place in her heart for her dog Sammy, loved to bake Christmas goodies and always made a special day for each of her grandchildren when turned 13 with a trip to Red Lobster for a lobster dinner. She was a strong, loving, gracious woman who was always concerned for the welfare of her grandchildren. Pat was an avid Husker fan who was known to place a “whammy” on the opposing team if necessary and if the situation was really dire, she would put on a “double whammy.” Her family fondly remembers her swinging in the backyard with her grandchildren singing “Swingin’ in the backyard.” Pat enjoyed French toast for breakfast and nibbling on Braunschweiger and crackers. Pat passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 75 years and 29 days. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Luella and her brother David. Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Bob and Kathy Boroff of Elkhorn; daughter and son-in-law Vickie and Chad Weitzenkamp of Hooper, NE; 9 grandchildren: Tina, Amanda, Chelsea, Tracy, Travis, Taylor, Tristan, Austin and Tianna; and great-grandchildren: Nash, Kincade, Tyrus and Zane; brother Larry (Nancy) Riley of Athens, PA; sister Sharon (Paul) Carney of Sayre, PA; 10 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn, Nebraska, on June 25.
