Services for Marcus Kroger At Herman Monday
School Head and Legion Commander Was Well Known
Funeral services were held Monday morning at Herman for Marcus Kroger, well known Herman man who has been County Superintendent of Schools for the past three years. He had died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair on Friday, January 14 after several months of failing health.
He was a native of Wayne, Nebraska, having been born August 2, 1906.
He moved to Herman in 1928 where he was a teacher in the Herman schools. He continued the work until 1938 when he entered business for himself. In 1943 he entered military service, returning to Herman in October, 1945. He resumed teaching and continued in the work until 1968 when he became County Superintendent.
Always interested in Legion affairs, he was at one time Commander of the Jackson-Peck Post, No, 274 at Herman. He also held offices in the Herman Fire Department and served on various boards throughout the County.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and by a son and a daughter. The son is David Kroeger of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska and the daughter is Mrs. James (Judy) Campbell of Tecumseh, Nebraska. There are five grandchildren.
A brother, Frank Kroger, lives at Newcastle, Nebraska and a sister, Mrs. James (Margaret) Holt, lives at West Point.
The Rev, Zack Klinsasser was in charge of the services held at the Legion Hall in Herman. The Rev. H.C. Jorgensen of Blair had conducted a family prayer service the previous evening at the mortuary in Blair.
Interment was made in the Herman Cemetery.

Marcus F. Kruger, Co, Superintendent Died Friday, Jan. 14
Marcus f. Kroger, Washington County Superintendent of Schools, died Friday, January 14 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He had been in failing health for several months.
A resident of Herman for many years where he served for a time as Superintendent of Schools, he had a wide acquaintance throughout the entire county.
He was born at Wayne, Nebraska August 2, 1906 and was 65 years of age at the time of his death. As a young man he served his country in World War II and he subsequently had a long-standing interest in the American Legion and the post at Herman.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and by a son and a daughter. The son is David Kroger of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska and the daughter is Mrs. James (Judy) Campbell of Tecumseh, Nebraska. There are five grandchildren.

Funeral services are being held today, January 17th at 10:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall in Herman. The Rev. Zack Kleinsasser will conduct the service and burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, will be made in Herman.
Pallbearers will be Frank Korshoj, Richard Hancock, Steven Tucker, Harold Hancock, Wayne Miller and Howard Laughlin.
