Florence E. Adams, age 96, of Fremont; died Saturday (May 30, 2015) in the Nye Pointe Health & Rehab Center, Fremont.
Florence was born January 8, 1919 in Hooper, Nebraska to George and Gertrude (Franke) Schuett. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Hooper in Washington County. On October 5, 1939, Florence was married in Shenandoah, Iowa to Arthur Adams. During her earlier working years in Fremont she worked for the Montgomery Wards Store in downtown Fremont.
In 1970, Florence and Art bought the Lucky Acres Fishing Resort near Miltona, Minnesota. They operated that until moving back to Fremont in 1984.
Florence and Art were charter members of the Fremont Senior Center (now the Friendship Center). Florence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, fishing, playing cards, and she took great pride in her family.
Survivors: daughter – Marilyn and husband Rodney Begier of Miltona, MN; son – James A. and wife Kathy Adams of Fremont; daughter-in-law – Judy Callahan of Rockwood, Ontario, Canada
7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother – George and wife Sharon Schuett of Omaha
sister-in-law – Marjorie Schuett of Fremont.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband Arthur on April 28, 2002, son Gerald, brother Norris Schuett, sister and brother-in-law Marcella and Harlan Griffin, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rosie and Bud Gitt.
The funeral service will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. David Coe. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary is today (Tuesday, June 2nd) from 3 to 8 PM with the family present from 6 to 8 PM.
