Services Held on Wednesday For Gordon Stuart
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 4, at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont for Gordon L. Stuart, 71, of Fremont, who died Saturday afternoon in an Omaha hospital. Rev. Ella Powell officiated.
Burial was in Memorial Cemetery. Graveside services were held by VFW Larson-Peterson Post No. 854 and American Legion Post No. 20.
Gordon L. Stuart was born November 28, 1909, in Fremont. He lived his entire life in the area, worked as a golf pro at the Fremont Golf Club and for the Campbell Soup Co. for several years.
He served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945 and saw action in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operation. He received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of Larson-Peterson Post No. 854 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Fremont American Legion Post No. 20.
He married Mabel Brahmer, who survives him.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Iris) Buchta, Fremont, and Mrs. Tom (Donna) Murphy, Bennington; one son, Doug Frerichs, Fremont; two brothers, Kenneth Stuart of Hastings, and Charles Stuart of Longview, Washington, also survive him.
Memorials have been established to the American Heart Association and the Diabetes Association.
