Chauncey Wright
Services for Chauncey Wright, 78, who died Friday, January 24, 1986, at Blair Memorial Community Hospital, were Monday, January 27, 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Dr. Howard Bailey and the Rev. John Ewton officiated. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
Wright was born September 18, 1907, the son of Craig and Esther Wright. He graduated from Blair High School. He married Hazel McDonald on September 14, 1929, in Logan, Iowa.
He farmed south of Blair, including raising sheep, until 1978 when he retired and moved to Blair.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
Wright is survived by his wife, Hazel of Blair; two daughters, Mrs. Willard (Geraldine) Gilfry of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. John (Charlotte) Heumann of Greenfield, Indiana; one sister, Mrs. William (Theresa) Skow of Omaha; three grandchildren; one great-grandson and four great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and one grandson.
Pallbearers included Jim Foley, Melvin Hatcher, Gordon McDonald, Paul McDonald Daryl Skow and Allan Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers were Pat Allen, John Prescott, Clair McKinnis, Howard Wiedner, Alvin Ohrt, Jack Rohwer, Francis Matson and John Christopher. Organist was Katy Flynn; vocalists were Pat and Kathy Tripp.
Campbell Funeral Home of Blair was in charge of arrangements.
