Bertel Bertelsen of Washington Dies
Bertel Bertelsen, a resident of Washington county since 1899, died at the McBride Nursing Home in Blair last Friday, October 23rd.
Mr. Bertelsen was 89 years old. He was born in Herrning, Denmark September 24, 1874 and came to America as a young lad.
He came to this county in 1899 and became interested in farming.

Bertel Bertelsen of Washington Dies 10-31-1963
Bertel Bertelsen, a resident of Washington Co since 1899 died at the McBride Nursing Home in Blair last Friday, October 23rd. Mr. Bertelsen was 89 years old.
He was born in Herrning, Denmark September 24, 1874 and came to America as a young lad. He came to this county in 1899 and became interested in farming, which was to be his lifetime occupation.
On July 23, 1901 he was married to Miss Laurine Andersen. They lived on a farm most of their lives in the vicinity of the village of Washington in the south part of Washington county.
Surviving are three sons, Hans, of Fremont, Elmer and Bertel Jr. of Washington village, and one daughter Mrs. Agnes Mathiesen, of Burlingame, California. There are also five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Bertelsen and five children preceded him in death.
Mr. Bertelsen was a member of the Washington Community church and funeral services were held there last Friday, Oct. 25th. The Rev. Harold Laursen conducted the funeral service and burial was made in
Prairie View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were William Petersen, Carsen Petersen, Eric Knudsen, Elmer Nielsen, B.J. Bergman and Ed Goedeker.
