BETTY A. ASHLAND, 81

Betty A. Ashland, 81, of Blair, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Betty A. Mann was born on April 26, 1928, at Burt, Iowa, to Leroy and Elizabeth (Kaser) Mann. She was a graduate of Burt High School and attended the La James Beauty School in Mason City, Iowa.

She married Ronald Ashland on Aug. 14, 1949, in Clear Lake, Iowa. They lived in several different states until moving to Blair in November of 1968.

Mrs. Ashland worked for the Mar Bee Beauty Salon in Blair for 15 years.

She loved spoiling her four grandchildren and spending time with friends. She also loved to travel with her husband, play bridge, read, collect teddy bears and she enjoyed animals, especially her house cat “Lil Girl.”

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; daughter-in-law, Bev Ashland of Blair; four grandchildren, Ivy and husband Will Linger, Lee Ashland, Luke Ashland and Tanner Ashland; one great-granddaughter, Bailey Linger; and a sister, Sharon McGrath of Denver, Colo.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Craig; infant brother; and two sisters, Nadine and Natalie.

Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or Blair Rescue Squad.

VISITATION starts 10 am Monday, with the family receiving friends 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
