PHILIP AXELSON
Philip E. Axelson, son of Charles and Bertha Johnson Axelson, was born at Oakland, August 17, 1900.
The family moved to Randolph in 1911.
He was married to Edna Nelson, December 24, 1924.
To this union, two daughters were born.
They farmed near Wausa from 1925 to 1943, moving to a farm northeast of Hooper in Washington County in 1943, and then to Oakland in 1952, where he took up carpenter work.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as an usher and as Sunday School superintendent.
Survivors are his wife Edna and two daughters and their husbands, Charis and Lester (Gus) Nelson of Blair; Gloria and Harry Wagner of Kerrville, Texas; two grandsons, three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.
One sister Lena Maye Grevers of Battle Creek, Michigan, one brother-in-law and many nieces, nephews and several cousins, also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and one great-grandson.
He passed away at Oakland on Tuesday, May 5, 1987, at the age of 86.
Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Oakland May 8 with Pastor Hiram Lilley officiating and burial at the Oakland Cemetery.
