Former Blair Mayor Dies of Heart Attack
Alfred O. Sick, 83, former mayor of Blair, Neb., died Saturday at his home of a heart attack, a family spokesman said.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Episcopal Church in Blair.
Born in Fontanelle, Neb., Sick graduated from Sterling High School. He attended the University of Nebraska and received a law degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
Sick owned the Blair Pilot-Tribune newspaper from 1927 until 1958. He was Blair postmaster from 1939 to 1965 and a Washington County judge in 1966 and 1967.
He served as Blair’s mayor from 1972 to 1980. In 1972, Sick was cited by Dana College for outstanding community service. He worked as a real estate broker from 1967 until his death.
