MRS. HANCOCK WAS 97 AT TIME OF DEATH
Mrs. Matilda Caroline Hancock died June 3 at the Crowell Memorial Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 7, at the Campbell Mortuary at 2 p.m. The Rev. Charles Gates officiated. Burial was in the Telbasta Cemetery near Fontanelle.
Matilda Weyrauch was born February 1, 1875 in Ankeny, Iowa. She was 97 years of age.
Mrs. Hancock had hope to be a missionary in her early years, before she and her husband came to Blair over 50 years ago. She was an active worker in the Methodist Church and taught Sunday School classes as well as singing in the church choir and serving as church pianist. She also taught piano lessons for a number of years.
Her husband, Rev. John Hancock preceded her in death.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Ervin Lang of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Wm. Weyrauch of Delta, Colorado; a nephew, R. H. Kaufman of Schenectady, N. Y., and a niece, Mrs. Al Koesling of Chicago.
