Services for Harold W. Hansen, 82 of Fremont, who died February 25, 1995 at his home, will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 28 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Leland D. Foreman of First Baptist Church will officiate. Military graveside services at Mr. Hope Cemetery at West Point will be conducted by the military honors team from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 853 and American Legion Post No. 20.
Visitation will be Tuesday for 9 a.m. until service time at Moser Memorial Chapel.
Harold W. Hansen was born April 5, 1912 at West Point, Nebraska. He grew up at West Point and the Blair-Arlington areas. He lived at Neligh and Blair prior to moving to Fremont in 1961.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator and construction worker.
He served in the United States Army during World War II as a heavy machine gunner with the 117th Infantry regiment. He served in Northern France and Germany and was awarded the combat infantry badge and two bronze Battle Stars.
He was a life member of VFW Post No. 854 of Fremont.
He married Olga M. Overton at Gretna January 9, 1937. She preceded him in death December 11, 1982.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Alma Olson Hansen, brothers, John E. Hansen and Chester Hansen and sisters, Nina Hansen and Lois Christensen.
He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Smith of Evanston, Wyoming; a brother, Milford Hansen of St. Charles, Missouri; four sisters, Leone Johnson of Oakland, Nebraska, Helen Slatt of Fremont and Marion (Mrs. Clifford) Johnson of West Point and Bernice Frye of Arlington; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Hansen, Donald Johnson, Leon Johnson, James Frye, Tom Lodge and Chad Marshall.
