Melvin Ratfield, 82
Former Kennard resident Melvin Ratfield, 82, of Pratt, Kan., died Friday, May 6, 2010, in Pratt.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, May 11, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Melvin Ratfield was born May 10, 1927, at Belvedere, Ill., to Arthur and Hazel (Mock) Ratfield. He was married to Vera Brown.
Mr. Ratfield worked for Kelly-Ryan as a painter for 23 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Vera; children, Alvin Ratfield of Lincoln, Diana and Raymond Sandburg of Pratt, Kan., Bonnie and Jerry Bell of Milford, Robert Ratfield of Fremont, Larry and Beth Ratfield of Blair; brother, Francis, of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in by a stepson, Billy Brown; and brother, Robert Ratfield.
