FORMER BETTY VINDERSLEV OF HERMAN DIES
LUTHERAN RITES HELD
Victim of a brain tumor, 24 year-old Mrs. Melvin Hardin, the former Betty Vinderslev of Herman, died last Wednesday at Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver after a long illness.
An infant son, Billy Jay, born to the couple last September, preceded her in death at the age of two months.
Mrs. Hardin’s husband is a master sergeant in the Army.
The body of Mrs. Hardin was brought to Herman to the Truhlsen Funeral Home. Services were held at First Lutheran Church in Blair, Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating. Interment followed in Herman Cemetery.
Betty Ann Vinderslev, daughter of Chris Vinderslev and the late Ida Vinderslev, was born at Herman, July 11, 1931, and spent most of her life in that community. She was a graduate of Herman High School, then attended Dana College, Wayne and Chadron State Teachers Colleges, and taught school three years. She and Sgt. Hardin, a former Gordon resident, were married at Chadron, May 16, 1953.
Mrs. Hardin is survived by her husband, Melvin; her father, Chris Vinderslev of Herman; three brothers, Elmer Vinderslev of Blair, Chris Jr. of Mead and Leonard of Chokie, Minn.; and seven sister, Mrs. Helen Totten of Fremont, Mrs. Dorothy Magill of Herman, Mrs. Inez Conway of Sioux City, Mrs. Vivian Kraemer of Tekamah, Mrs. Lola Vaughn of Herman, Mrs. Darlene Dodge of Denver, Colo. and Miss Lila Vinderslev of Omaha.
Her mother and sister, Ione, preceded her in death.
