Dale A. Matson, 74, of Blair, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. this Friday, March 4, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Dale Alfred Matson was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Elgin to Francis A. and Margaret (Daniels) Matson.
He farmed with his parents at Bassett, Petersburg and then St. Edward. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Edward High School.
On April 7, 1958, he married Deloris Christo of Albion in Loganville, Wis. The Matsons have lived in Blair since 1959.
Mr. Matson worked 40 years as superintendent of building and grounds at Dana College in Blair, retiring in 1999. He had been a self-employed handyman since retiring and assisted his wife with her home daycare.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris, of Blair; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dana of St. Paul, Minn., Richard of Papillion, and Darrell and Tammy of Omaha; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
Memorials are suggested to the Blair Rescue Squad.
