Former Fort Calhoun resident Helen Ward, 96, of Blair, died March 7, 2011, in Blair.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Sievers- Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. There is no visitation.

Helen Holenda was born July 28, 1914, in Omaha to Frank Holenda Sr. and Marie Stacy Vak.

She was married to Ralph Leadly Ward.

She is survived by her son, Jimmie Lee Ward of Fort Calhoun; her grandchildren, including twins, Jamie Lee Ward and his fiancé, Kimberly Stover of Omaha, and Christy Ward of Paris, Tenn., granddaughters and spouses, Rhonda and Joshua Dick and Stephanie and Travis Barton, all of Blair; and great-grandchildren, Zackerie, Alyssa, Nathaniel, Travis, Kaidy and Aivree.

She was preceded in death by her husband; stepmother, Anna Vestley; brothers, Joe, James, Frank Jr., Rudolph and infant brother, Albert; sisters, Anna, Mary, Agnes, Lillian; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Ward.

Memorials are suggested to the Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue Department.
