Otis Elmer Hawkins, 88, of Fort Calhoun died Monday, May 26, 1997, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Visitation is planned from 3-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. The family is receiving friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. A Masonic service by Solomon Lodge No. 10 will be at 7 p.m.

Hawkins was born Nov. 8, 1908, at Phillipsburg, Mo., to Thomas and Delphia (Coonce) Hawkins. He grew up in the Phillipsburg area near Lebanon, Mo., and attended school through the eighth grade.

He was married in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Almeda Dorn. They had five children.

He married Dorothy Marr on Feb. 15, 1969, in Fort Calhoun.

Hawkins farmed in the Fort Calhoun area. He belonged to Solomon Lodge No. 10 for over 50 years and was a member of the Naomi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 121. He was a member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are his wife Dorothy of Fort Calhoun; two daughters, Donna Marie Smith of Buena Park, Calif., and Kit Corwine of Omaha; two sons, Charles Hawkins of Fort Calhoun and Jim Hawkins of Omaha; two step-sons, Jim and Eugene Marr; four brothers, Harold Hawkins of Tekamah, Leonard Truelove of Tulsa, Okla., Lester Hawkins of Belmont, Calif., and Chester Hawkins of Arkansas; one sister, Beulah Tarpy of Peoria, Ill.; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Almeda and a daughter, Shirley Lantz.

Memorials may be given to the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.
