CALVIN HAZEN IS BURIED ON SATURDAY
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 8, at First Baptist Church for Calvin Wilbur Hazen, 57, who died May 4, 1982, at his home in rural Blair.
Rev. James Metzgar conducted the services. Burial was in Fontanelle Cemetery.
Calvin Wilbur Hazen was born June 4, 1924, in Wellfleet, Nebraska to Willard and Evelyn Hazen. He served his country in the United States Navy from October 9, 1941 to October 8, 1945, and was a veteran of World War II. He was a truck driver for Peter Kiewit and Sons Construction Co. and was also a member of the Eagles Club.
He was married to Esther Westphal. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas, Portland, Oregon; Willard of Kearney; Owen of Blair; and three daughters, Diane Hazen and Priscilla Hazen, both of Portland; and Rebecca Wahl of Kearney. Two grandchildren; his father Willard, and stepmother Zeta, both of Lebanon, Oregon, also survive him.
Pallbearers were Bruce Westphal, Dale Hazen, Gary Asmussen, David C. Nielsen, Frank Mayo and Delmer Miller.
Patricia Watts was organist. Clare Cowing was vocalist.
Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the service.
