Caryl J. Nelson, 80, of Fort Calhoun, died Friday, June 4, 2010.

Services were Monday, June 7, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment at a later date will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Caryl Joyce Berney was born May 31, 1930, in Wolbach to Errol and Mary (Horn) Berney. She was a graduate of Wolbach High School.

She was married to Denton W. Nelson; he preceded her in death in 1988.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Fort Calhoun American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son, Mike Nelson of Fort Calhoun; daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Bill Schurevich of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Michelle Nelson of Arlington; son-in-law, Richard Gerdes Sr. of Omaha; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Bev Newquist of Belgrade; brother, John Berney of Virginia Beach, Va.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Pat; daughter, Sheila; sisters, Dorothy, Nadine, Marilyn; and brothers, Dale, Ron and Dwayne.
