Dorothy Heumann, 86, of Sidney, Neb., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997 at the Memorial Health Center, Extended Care in Sidney.

Services were Friday at First United Methodist Church in Sidney. Rev. Gary Aten officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Heumann was born Dec. 18, 1910 at Benson, Neb., to John and Johanna (Luschen) Wilke. She grew up in Benson. On March 28, 1934, she married George William Heumann. They lived in Bloomfield, Nebr. before moving to a farm near Omaha where they lived for 16 years. In 1956, they moved to Sidney where she worked at the nursing home as a nursing assistant. She also worked for 15 years as a teacher’s aid at South Elementary School in the Foster Grandparent Program. She had been a resident of the Memorial Health Center, Extended Care for the past three years.

Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Charlotte Heumann of Greenfield, Ind. and Bill and Janet Heumann of Sandy, Utah; three grandchildren, Dr. Gregory Heumann and Pamela Heumann Thullen, both of Indiana and Tamera Heumann Walls of Alaska; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Crawford of Eugene, Ore. and Mrs. Mildred Coleman of Escondido, Calif. and a great-uncle-in-law, Dr. George Thompson of Sidney, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Richard; her husband; five brothers and five sisters.

Holechek Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
