FORMER SHERIFF'S DEPUTY, DON HILL, DIED FRIDAY
Don Hill, former Blair man and Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Jim Kelley, died early Friday in an Omaha hospital. He had been suffering from cancer for a number of months. The family has been living in the southeast part of Washington County on Florence mail route. He was 53 years old.
Deputy Hill joined the Washington County Sheriff's Department on April 1, 1973, and continued for more than three years. He was given a leave of absence because of his health on July 31, 1976.
Prior to coming to Blair he had been Chief of Police at Valley, Nebraska.
"He was a dedicated officer and an excellent Deputy," stated Sheriff Jim Kelley following receiving news of Hill's death Friday.
The former Deputy is survived by his wife, Shirley, and by a son, Don, Jr., and two married daughters, Mrs. Ted (Buni) Mason of Orum (west of Blair) and Mrs. Davey (Debbie) Nunn, of Omaha.
