Betty J. Vogler, 94
Betty J. Vogler was born October 1, 1922, to Malcolm and Eva G. (Baldwin) Thornton in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away August 3, 2017, at Tekamah Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 94 years.
Betty was the oldest of three children. She was raised in Nebraska and graduated from Omaha North High School in 1941. From 1941-1949, she was employed at Woolworth Dime Store, Glen Martin Bomber Plant as a gas rationing clerk, and then Railway Express as a comptometer operator.
Betty was married to Verle Vogler August 21, 1948. They celebrated their 50th and 65th wedding anniversaries. She spent her married life with Verle and their children on farms near Springfield and Tekamah, Nebraska.
Betty has influenced many youth by assisting in 4-H leadership, scouts and church activities. She loved flowers, crafting, sewing, music, bowling, cooking, club activities and especially family holidays.
Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verle, in 2014; and brother, Malcolm, Jr.
She is survived by her three children, Douglas of Tekamah, Darlene (Steve) Bacon of Pleasant Hill, IA, Pamela Vogler-Benson of Omaha; four grandchildren, Dylan and Dalton Benson of Omaha, Heather (Sam) Vogler-Fischer of Omaha, Teresa (Pat) Braniff of Tekamah; six great-grandchildren, Alivia, Ethan, Julianna, Lukus, Thomas and Savannah Braniff; brother, Al Thornton; and nephew, Mike Thornton.
The funeral service will be Saturday, August 12, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, 5-7 p.m., with family receiving friends at Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Louisville.
