Former Kennard Phone Mgr. Dies
Mr. Carl Rooth, a former resident of Kennard, Nebraska, passed away Friday, March 28th at the age of 69 years at the Good Samaritan Home in Mason City, Iowa. Mr. Rooth had a broken hip and was suffering from incurable cancer.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran Church at Hanlontown, Iowa, where he had been living for the past several years. Short services were held Tuesday at 2:30 at the Palmquist Funeral Home in Oakland. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Annarene (Mrs. WillisNewell of Lyons, Nebr.,) and Elaine (Mrs. C.B. Quey of Creston, Iowa), one sister, two brothers, nine grandchildren.
One son, Eugene Rooth, was killed in action in 1944. Mr. Rooth’s first wife passed away in 1938, while living at Kennard where they operated the Kennard Telephone Exchange.
