Robert E. Coffman, 87 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Bob was a resident of Carter Place in Blair, Nebraska.
Bob was born in Tekamah, the eldest of three boys, to Robert C. and Elsie (Chapman) Coffman. He received his education in Tekamah, graduating from Tekamah High School in 1948.
On March 4, 1951, Bob married Elizabeth A. (Plummer) Coffman. To this union two children were born; Dan and Denise. They resided on a farm north of Tekamah in Riverside Township for 24 years until moving into town in 1975.
Bob was a devoted and loving husband to Betty for 64 years. As a father, grandfather and father-in-law, he took great joy in spending time with his family. He was a past Master of Tekamah Lodge No. 31 and celebrated his 50-year membership in 2017. He was also a Shriner for many years. He and Betty were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah.
He and Betty farmed side-by-side. After retiring from farming in 1992, they started to enjoy traveling to different places. For over 20 years they especially enjoyed being ‘snowbirds’ and would spend winters in South Padre Island, Texas. During his lifetime, he has enjoyed many friendships both near and far.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Betty, daughter, Denise Trumbo; sister-in-law, Barbara (McBride) Coffman.
He is survived by his son, Dan (Jeanine) Coffman of Streamwood, IL; son-in-law, Gary Trumbo of Fremont, NE; three grandchildren, Kecia Zimmerman of Omaha, NE, Sarah (Matt) Leber of Lincoln, NE, Danielle Coffman of Dallas, TX; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hailee Zimmerman, Logan, Ethan and Aidan Leber; brothers, Donald (Dolores) Coffman, Ed Coffman all of Tekamah.
