Mrs. Mary Hazlip died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marion Metzinger, in Lincoln, last Saturday from dropsy following heart trouble. The funeral service was held at the Metzinger home in Lincoln Monday by Mr. Weber, of the International Bible Students Association, and the body brought here on the afternoon train for burial in the Blair Cemetery by the side of her husband. Rev. J. B. Williams conducted a short service at the grave. Mary Estella Brooks, a sister of the late Frank Brooks, was born in Battle Creek Mich., March 2th, 1845, and was therefore past 74 years of age. She was married there to John Hazlip in 1865, came to Nebraska in 1880, to Blair in 1888. This was her home until last September when she moved to Lincoln to reside with her daughter. She was the mother of five children, but one of whom survives her. She leaves one sister, Mr. S. E. Scott, of Lincoln, three grandsons, Delbert, Raymond and Frank Metzinger, and one granddaughter, Mrs. John Jensen, of this place. She had been a member of the W. R. C. here and the corps ladies conducted their burial service at the grave. The entire Metzinger family and Mrs. Scott came over with the body and returned to Lincoln yesterday afternoon.
