Charles T. Groom
Published in the Pilot April 16, 1919
Chas. T. Groom was found dead out at the county farm last Friday evening, having suffered a paralytic stroke. He was 76 years of age and had been at the farm for only a short time, being unable to earn his living because of rheumatism. He was a conscientious Christian gentleman, a member of the Methodist Church and his friends in and around Blair raised enough to bury him in the regular cemetery. The funeral is to be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating. His wife died while their two children, a son and a daughter were young and he struggled hard to rear and educate then. No one knew where they were and so no word could be gotten to them He also has a sister living at Melrose, Ia.
