Matt Brown, a long-time resident of Blair who operated a trash pickup and light trucking line for many years died last Tuesday at St. Catherine’s hospital in Omaha. He had been retired from his work for several years and had been in failing health.
Matt was born at Blair, Nebraska December 8, 1899 and was 75 years of age at the time of his death. He was the son of Sam and Amelia Brown. His father was a laborer. Matt, despite his lack of schooling, was able to conduct his business and pay his bills. He was known by the businessmen whom he served as a hard worker, scrupulously honest, and one who was careful and conservative with his expenditures.
Matt was never married. He lived alone on east State Street for many years.
Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary Friday morning. The Rev. Ray Phelps of the First Christian Church conducted the services and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery.
