Ted C. Brown, 51, of Elkhorn, died Aug. 9, 2005, at Valhaven Nursing Home in Valley.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 13, at Reichmuth Funeral Home, 21901 W. Maple Road, Elkhorn. Inurnment followed at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn with military honors provided by the Benson VFW Post No. 2503.

Ted Charles Brown was born Jan. 21, 1954, in Fremont, to Charles and Bonnie (Bradford) Brown. He grew up in Fremont, but the family moved to Lincoln when he was 10. He attended school in Lincoln, and earned his GED. As a young boy, he enjoyed being with family, whether it was playing youth baseball on a team coached by his dad, staying on his aunt and uncle's farm, or hunting with his step-dad.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was enlisted from March 27, 1972 until his honorable discharge on Jan. 31, 1975. He was disabled and discharged with the rank of Private First Class and was grateful he was able to see the world while serving his country.

On Dec. 4, 1982, he married Debra McNichols at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. The couple had two children, Katrina and Corey. Mr. Brown was also proud of his two daughters from his first marriage, Tonia and Tracey. After the wedding the family lived in Lincoln, Ashland, Blair, and Omaha before settling in Elkhorn.

Throughout his life, he worked as a cabinetmaker and framing carpenter. He was even able to put his skills to use by building his own home. He most recently was employed as a sales associate at Home Depot. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and barbequing. Family and friends were especially important to him and he always had fun entertaining friends. He was proud that he was able to see the births of all his children and loved the fishing and camping trips he was able to take with the family. He also loved to travel and had a special time visiting Seattle, Wash., in November 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Deb (McNichols) Brown of Elkhorn, formerly of Blair; daughters, Tonia Peters and Tracey Brown, both of Lincoln, and Katrina Brown; son, Corey Brown; four grandchildren; sisters, Shelly Burgess and Cindy Hart, and brother, Ray Harrington; mother-in-law, Helen McNichols of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bonnie (Bradlford) Brown, and stepfather, Kenneth Harrington.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
