Victoria Forbes

Miss Victoria Forbes, an active worker in church and Christian Endeavor at her home in Esterline, S.D., where she died, was buried in the Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, cemetery on May 7, 1915, Rev. Werner officiating. Mrs. Ed Brenner and Mrs. Joe Bolin sang the hymns with Mrs. Charles Rathjen at the organ. The pallbearers were Henry Helmsing, Paul Schiller, Tim Ohrt, John Hindricksen, Henry Prochnow and William Hardy, Jr.

Among others present were the two grandmothers, Mrs. Hossack and her husband from Florence, and part of the family and Grandma Forbes of Benson.

George Forbes, the father of the young lady, came here about twenty years ago, and afterwards married a Miss White, whose family had been long time residents of this county. About fifteen years ago, the Forbes family left here for another part of the state and about five years ago moved to Esterline, S. D.

Mrs. Forbes’ health not permitting her to come so far, her younger sister and Mr. Forbes came with the body. She was buried near the grave of her grandfather, Elder White. (Grandmother White is now Mrs. Hossack.)
