Cara Cameron, Of Herman, Died Early Thursday-Pioneer of County-Veteran Farmer, Stockman Passes Away

W. C. Cameron, of Grant Township, passed away at his home at four o’clock this (Thursday) morning, August 22. His end came after a lingering illness which had kept him bed-fast for months and his worried him for year. Several surgical operations were resorted to which aided but did not cure.

Deceased was born in Illinois, April 17, 1863, and with his parents came to the county in Sept., 1865. The family settled in Cuming City and there he attended school. Later the farm which has long been his home was purchased by his parents and on this farm the deceased lived continuously for over seventy years.

On December 23, 1886, he was married to Harriet Ruth Wilson, also a pioneer, and to them five children were born, Mrs. J. C. Broderson, Mrs. Frank Brodersen, Mrs. Henry Jackson and two sons, Whit and Malcolm, all married and reside in the immediate vicinity.

Mr. Cameron has for a long term of years been the dean of purebred stock raisers of the county. He specialized in purebred Duroc Jersey swine and his judgement was never questioned. His hogs found a market, for breeding purposes, practically all over the middle west and were even sent to South American countries.

But above his signal success as a farmer his sterling manhood stood out. He was always sincere in his dealings and was known for his honesty and his friends and all those who dealt with him trusted him implicitly. He leaves to his children a heritage which money cannot buy, a name beyond reproach and a place in the hearts of his neighbors and friends which cannot be replaced. Always a good citizen he lived up to his ideals and was an example worthy of emulation.

The Enterprise joins in sorrowing sympathy with the wife and children in their great loss.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Legion Hall in Herman.
