Kennard Youth, 17, Succumbs
August Matzen Dies After Three-Month Illness; Rites Friday
August Matzen, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil E. Matzen of northeast of Kennard, died at 4 a.m. Christmas Day at the home of his parents following an illness of three months.
Funeral services are to be held at the Matzen residence Friday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. P. C. Jensen of the Kennard Lutheran church officiating. Burial will be in Kennard cemetery.
The youth was born August 20, 1923, at the farm where he was to spend his entire life. He attended Brewster rural school.
Surviving beside his parents are six brothers, Otto, Herman and Rudolph, all of near Blair, and George, Anton and Clarence, at home; six sisters, Mrs. Jens Hansen of Orum, Mrs. Raymond Wulf of Blair, and Alice, Katherine, Clara May and Lucille, all at home. His grandmother, Mrs. Nicholas Christ of Blair, also survives.

AUGUST MATZEN RITES FRIDAY
Funeral services for August Matzen, 17 year old Kennard boy who passed away on Christmas morning, were held Friday at the parental, Emil E. Matzen home, with Rev. P. C. Jensen of the Kennard Lutheran church in charge. Burial was made in the Kennard cemetery.
Young Matzen, whose death was the result of a three month illness, had spent his entire life on the farm, attending Brewster school. He is survived by the parents; six brothers, George, Anton and Clarence at home, Rudolph, Otto and Herman of Blair; six sisters, Mrs. Raymond Wulf of Blair, Alice, Katherine, Lucille and Clara May at home; and Mrs. Jens Hansen of Orum.
